Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
  • Describe clinical features that would support upfront surgery for rectal cancer.
  • Recognize the key decision factors surrounding no radiation, short vs. long course pelvic radiation, particularly for mid-rectal intermediate-risk tumors.
  • Discern the appropriateness of non-operative management when sphincter preservation is possible.
