Dr. Seth Rosen is an Associate Professor in the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Emory University School of Medicine. He graduated from Emory College and NYU School of Medicine. He completed his training in general surgery at the University of Chicago, and then a fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Florida. He has been in practice since 2002.
His clinical interests focus on the management of diverticular disease, colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and all benign and malignant anorectal diseases. He has extensive experience with robotic colon and rectal surgery, performing over 800 procedures to date.
Dr. Rosen is the Director of Emory’s Colorectal Surgery Research Fellowship. A significant focus of his research relates to robotic colorectal surgery: evaluating outcomes, measuring objective performance indicators, using video assessment to evaluate surgeon competency, understanding how best to train new surgeons, and developing recommendations regarding privileging and credentialing.
Dr. Rosen is the Program Director for Emory’s ACGME-certified Colorectal Surgery Fellowship as well as the Emory Johns Creek Hospital Site Director for Emory’s training programs in Colorectal Surgery and General Surgery. In the past, he has served as Chair of Emory Healthcare’s Robotic Surgery Committee and Chief of Staff of Emory Johns Creek Hospital. He currently serves on numerous other institutional committees focusing on quality, safety, physician training and credentialing.
Dr. Rosen is an active member of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, Association of Academic Surgeons, International Society of University Colorectal Surgeons and Southeastern Surgical Society. He serves on national committees focused on operative competency, resident training, and colorectal surgery.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading, practicing yoga, crossword puzzles, working on DIY projects and traveling.
