Dr. Michael Angelo N. Lucila or “Doc Mike” as fondly called by his colleagues, is a colorectal fellow-in-training from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center (UERMMMCI)/Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center (ARMMC)/Escolastica Romero District Hospital (ERDH) Colorectal Fellowship Program, who hails from Camalig, Albay in the Philippines. He took his undergraduate studies at Our Lady of Fatima University in Quezon City and graduated with a B.S. Psychology degree in 2007. He obtained his medical degree (Doctor of Medicine) from Far Eastern University-Dr. Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation (FEU-NRMF) in 2014. He took General Surgery training at Bicol Regional Hospital and Medical Center (formerly known as Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital) from 2017-2022 and was appointed chief resident during his senior year. During residency, he presented in inter-departmental researches and participated in inter-hospital competitions under his belt. He is a diplomate of the Philippine Board of Surgery. Currently, he's in his second year as a colorectal fellow-in-training. He also won first place at the recently concluded 47th Dr. Jose S. Ramirez Surgical Research Forum, held last November 18, 2024 for his research entitled, “Hemorrhoidal Artery Ligation Compared to Rubber Band Ligation for the Treatment of Symptomatic Second-Degree and Third-Degree Hemorrhoids: A Meta-Analysis”. He is a well-rounded guy and his interests span cycling, hiking, raising dogs, photography, and traveling.
