Araiye Medlock is currently an MS4 at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine where she is currently completing a year of research as part of the Academic Careers in Medicine for Medical Doctors (ARC-MD); a 5-year track at UC Davis centered around equipping medical students with the foundational skills and professional development as a physician-scientist. She is currently working as a TL1 Scholar under the guidance of Dr. Courtney Lyles of the UC Davis Center for Healthcare Policy and Research where she is working to construct a framework guide for researchers interested in community-informed and community-engaged patient involvement in randomized controlled trials and health technology intervention design in the Championing Hypertension Remote Monitoring for Equity and Dissemination (CHARMED) trial. She is particularly passionate about patient involvement in health-justice and health-equity based interventions primarily in healthcare system navigation and surgical patient outcomes and clinical experiences. She also has a profound passion for diversifying and ensuring the success of underrepresented-in-medicine students in hopes to magnify those who value this work in medicine and medical education. At the ASCRS 2025 Meeting, she will be presenting an oral presentation of the video abstract entitled "Bladder Preservation With Urethral Anastomosis In The Setting Of Total Abdominoperineal Resection With Robotic Prostatectomy" under the leadership of Dr. Miquell Miller, MD, MSc. the UC Davis Health Department of Colorectal Surgery, and the UC Davis Health Department of Urology.
