Dr. Janice Rafferty is a 1996 graduate of the residency in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis. As the first Colon and Rectal surgeon at the University of Cincinnati, she established the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery. During her 25 years In academia, she was promoted to professor of surgery, and was honored with an endowed chair in Colon and Rectal surgery by Carl H. and Edyth Lindner, a title she proudly retains in private practice. Dr. Rafferty joined The Christ Hospital physicians in 2021, and was appointed Chair of Surgery/Service Line Medical Director and Medical Director of Surgical Oncology shortly thereafter.
She was assistant Program Director for the ASCRS 2006 annual meeting, at-large member on executive committee for three years, and has worked on many committees in ASCRS- including many years as a member, vice chair, and eventually Chair of the clinical practice guideline committee. Dr. Rafferty is also a senior examiner for the American Board of Colon & Rectal Surgery.
