Kristen Donohue, MD, FACS, FASCRS is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She completed her bachelors degree at Boston College and then Medical School and General Surgery Training at Rutgers, and fellowship in Colon & Rectal Surgery at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, MA before returning home to NJ.
Dr. Donohue is passionate about delivering patient centered care and providing an individualized approach to each patient. She is double board certified in General and Colon & Rectal Surgery. She specializes in laparoscopic and robotic, minimally invasive colorectal procedures, including transanal excisions of rectal tumors. Dr. Donohue’s patients are treated with an Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) pathway to minimize patient discomfort and optimize recovery. Her practice is focused on treating patients with colon and rectal cancer, IBD (Crohns disease and ulcerative colitis), diverticulitis, rectal prolapse as well as common anorectal conditions such as hemorrhoids, anal fissure and fistulae, and advanced endoscopic techniques.
Dr. Donohue is also involved in education of both General Surgery Residents and Medical Students. She has authored numerous peer reviewed research articles and book chapters. She serves on many hospital and national committees including currently serving as the President of the New Jersey Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
