Monique Couto Matos, MD

General Surgery Resident

Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, she obtained her medical degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and completed her General and Colorectal Surgery training in Brazil. Concurrently, Dr. Matos engaged in hands-on externships in Colorectal Surgery and HIPEC Service at the Norwegian Radium Hospital and Transplant Surgery and HPB Service at Rikshospitalet—Oslo University Hospital, both located in Oslo, Norway. She moved to Orlando with her family and currently, is a PGY-II in General Surgery Program at the Orlando Health Program, where she has the privilege of collaborating on research projects with some of her mentors at the Colon and Rectal Institute - Orlando Health. She finds fulfillment in her work at Orlando Regional Medical Center and aspires to apply for a colorectal fellowship in the future.
