Dr. Dany Fernando Rivas Méndez, Surgeon General (Credential No. 12408), is a distinguished general surgeon graduated from the Universidad San Carlos de Guatemala, with a special interest in colorectal surgery. He was awarded the "Carlos Gallardo Best Poster" award at the LX Congress of Surgery 2020 for his work on "Abdominal Angiostrongylosis."

He has been a speaker in Mexico and participated as an observer in coloproctology at the General Hospital of Mexico and the Central Military Hospital of Bogotá, Colombia, endorsed by the Military University of Colombia. In addition, he completed an observership at the prestigious St. Mark's Hospital in London, England.

Currently, Dr. Rivas Méndez is part of the surgical staff at the Regional Hospital of Zacapa, a public hospital that serves a large community. He also performs private surgeries at the Hospital de Especialidades and Hospital La Villa, both in Zacapa, Guatemala.
