Dr. Marianna Sarkissyan is currently a surgical resident in the Department of Surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, CA. She completed her undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from University of California, Irvine. She then spent several years focusing on translational cancer research on colorectal, breast, and prostate cancers impacting underrepresented communities and health disparities at Charles Drew University with the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center at UCLA. She completed her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine and is completing the last two years of General Surgery training at Harbor-UCLA with goal of pursuing Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship after completion. Her research interests include the molecular, epigenetic, and clinical basis of colorectal and anal cancers with an emphasis on health disparities and surgical education. She is fluent in Spanish, Armenian, and English.
