Dr. Montserrat Guraieb-Trueba is an Assistant Professor of Colon and Rectal Surgery at the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center. She obtained her medical degree from Tecnologico de Monterrey School of Medicine in Monterrey, Mexico. She completed her General Surgery residency at Tecnologico de Monterrey School of Medicine in Monterrey, Mexico and a clinical Fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Universidad del Ejercito y la Fuerza Aerea de Mexico in Mexico City. She then completed an Advanced Colon and Rectal Surgery fellowship and the International Surgical Oncology fellowship at The University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her clinical interests are in the multidisciplinary treatment of malignant diseases of the colon and rectum with an emphasis on minimally invasive surgery and complex locally advanced and recurrent disease.
Dr. Guraieb-Trueba’s research and interests are focused on minimally invasive surgery for colorectal cancer and improving the outcomes and the delivery of colon and rectal cancer therapies through registry-based evaluation, clinical trials, and patient centered outcomes research. She has published over 30 peer-reviewed manuscripts in high impact journals.
