Bryan Maghen, MS, is a third-year medical student at the California University of Science and Medicine, currently conducting research under the mentorship of Dr. Phillip Fleshner at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. His work focuses on advanced therapies and surgical outcomes for Crohn’s disease anal fistulas. Bryan has a strong interest in surgery and psychiatry, having served as the Surgery Interest Group President at his medical school and as a member of the American Psychiatric Association.
Bryan’s prior research spans topics such as gastrointestinal hemorrhage and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on healthcare delivery, including his award-winning study, “Shifting Patterns in Gastrointestinal Hemorrhage Care,” which received second place in the ACP Southern California Internal Medicine Meeting. Additionally, his work on navigation strategy, published in Memory & Cognition, highlights his diverse academic background. He is currently exploring his interests to determine his specialty, with a focus on advancing patient care through research and clinical practice.
