Dr. Deborah Keller is a double board-certified colorectal surgeon, surgical scientist, and innovator. She is currently the Director of the IMPACT (Innovation in Medical and Patient Care Technologies) Program through the Mayo Clinic and Arizona State Alliance for Healthcare, a consultant Colorectal Surgeon, and a Professor in the School of Biological and Health Systems Engineering at Arizona State University and the Division of Digestive Surgery at the University of Strasbourg. Dr. Keller has a clinical focus on advanced minimally invasive and robotic options for IBD, colorectal cancer, and pelvic floor disorders. Her research concentrates on biophotonics, health services, and quality outcomes, where she has led international collaboratives and authored over 250 peer-reviewed papers and practice guidelines. Her work has earned both institutional funding and extramural support. In addition to her clinical and research expertise, Dr. Keller is a Biodesign-trained innovator and entrepreneur, focusing on startups in the digital health, wearables, and ergonomics space. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Keller is actively involved in leadership positions for multiple international surgical societies and serves as an Associate Editor for Diseases of the Colon and Rectum, Colorectal Disease, Techniques in Coloproctology, and SURGERY.
