Dr. Botero was born and raised in Medellín, Colombia. Although she completed her medical school there, she always knew she wanted to do her residency in the US. With that in mind, after she graduated from med school, she became part of research labs at Cleveland Clinic Florida and at the University of Miami. She then matched into a preliminary residency spot at Jackson Memorial/University of Miami to start her surgical training. After 2 years, she was able to match into a spot at BayCare as one of the inaugural class residents and will be part of the first graduating class in 2028.
