Alyssa Habermann is a general surgery resident at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. She grew up in White Plains, NY and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, where she studied Spanish and environmental sciences. She went on to receive her MD from Duke University in Durham, NC. After completing two clinical years of general surgery residency at VCU, she chose to enter the lab. Her research is focused on the use of 3D printing in pre-surgical planning and educational models, especially as it pertains to colorectal surgery. She also has an interest in clinical outcomes research. After completing general surgery residency, Alyssa plans to apply for fellowship in colorectal surgery.
