Joseph Carmichael, MD

Chief Medical Officer and Clinical Professor of Surgery

Dr. Carmichael is board-certified in General Surgery and Colon and Rectal surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery. He is currently a Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of California, Irvine where he also serves as the Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President at UCI Health. Dr. Carmichael attended Tulane University where he graduated with honors and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Cell and Molecular Biology. He attended the University of Missouri, Columbia medical school and graduated in 2001. He went on to complete a General Surgery residency at the University of California, Irvine and a fellowship in Colon and Rectal surgery at the Cook County program in Chicago, Illinois.
