Chair of Swedish Integrated Network Cancer Program
Swedish Cancer Institute
Seattle, WA, United States
As a specialist in colon and rectal surgery, Dr. Griffin's practice is designed to meet the highest standards set by the ASCRS. His specific interests lie in the area of laparoscopic and robotic colon and rectal surgery for both benign and malignant diseases, but also include the diagnosis and management of proctologic disease such as hemorrhoids, fissures, abscesses, and fistulas. Colonoscopy and pelvic floor conditions are also a part of his practice.
It was after starting the CRS Fellowship training program in Salt Lake City, UT and as its Program Director for a number of years, that Dr. Griffin developed an interest in what he considers “practical” ethics i.e. the ethics revolving around the challenges and difficulty of the everyday surgery practice. It was as much an education for himself as for his faculty and fellows. This interest has continued in his practice at the Swedish Colon and Rectal Clinic in Seattle, WA.
Dr. Griffin is now Chair of the Swedish Cancer Institute’s ACS Commission on Cancer Integrated Network Cancer Program as well as President of Northwest Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. He is involved in the Swedish CRS Fellowship training program as Associate Director of Research. He is a Fellow of the ASCRS, ABS, and ACLM. He is married with two children and enjoys running, racing, chocolate, small batch ice cream, and Psalms.
