Dr. Bidhan Das is an internationally recognized colorectal surgeon based in Houston, Texas, known for his expertise in advancing the field and providing patient-centered care. He is a key member of Southwest Surgical Associates, where he practices every aspect of colorectal surgery, including minimally invasive procedures, advanced colonoscopic techniques, and the treatment of anorectal conditions.
Dr. Das began his medical training at Yale University School of Medicine, where he was awarded the prestigious Howard Hughes Fellowship for his outstanding academic performance. He completed his residency at Harvard Medical School under the guidance of the legendary Dr. Josef Fischer, solidifying his surgical expertise and passion for innovation.
Throughout his career, Dr. Das has been instrumental in pioneering enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) pathways in Houston, significantly improving patient outcomes. His contributions extend beyond clinical practice, as he co-founded the Daniel Lehane Colon and Rectal Cancer Tumor Board at Houston Methodist Hospital. He also established the first Colon and Rectal Surgeon Center of Excellence for InterStim Sacral Neuromodulation, a treatment that has transformed care for patients with fecal incontinence.
In addition, Dr. Das is a leader in transgender surgical care, having created the Colorectal Surgical arm of the Center for Transgender Medicine. He is committed to providing inclusive, affirming care for all patients.
