Purpose: Help create and refine expert opinion to guide care of patients with internal rectal prolapse (intussusception) and associated symptoms. Is this a surgical condition or medical condition? If we do offer surgery, which one and when? With data being murky we need your expertise to help make reasonable management suggestions.
Overview: This year, a hard working group of dedicated consortium members did an extensive literature search on the current state of knowledge related to the topic of internal intussusception (prolapse). We now invite attendees to contribute to this process during the PFDC/ASCRS 2025 meeting by reacting to the data and to share their knowledge and expertise to see if we can make sense out of it. We will also discuss collaborative work with IUGA and ICS in the field of internal rectal prolapse, the new Ventral Mesh Rectopexy Expert Consensus Document (currently in press in DCR) and continue to refine our consortium agenda with the long term goal of improving care of patients with pelvic floor disorders.
