Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

Recognize how to optimize surgery for patients who take chronic medications that impact intestinal motility, such as GLP-1 inhibitors and other gastric emptying inhibitors, anticoagulants, and other medications which may need to be stopped preoperatively.
Discuss perioperative communication strategies to improve day-to-day efficiency and patient safety, and how to call upon these strategies to optimize emergency settings.
Address how to anticipate and avoid frustrations and inefficiencies in daily surgical practice.
