Purpose/Background: Transanal excision is indicated for removal of benign rectal polyps and selected cases of early-stage cancers that are not amenable to endoscopic resection. The single-port robotic platform is the latest development in robotic surgery that is well-suited for endoluminal surgery. We report our experience of performing single-port robotic transanal minimally invasive surgery for juvenile polypectomy.

Methods/Interventions: In this video, we present our experience using the single-port robotic platform for resection of juvenile polyps using the Da Vinci SP.

Results/Outcomes: A 13-year-old patient presented with circumferential juvenile polyps of the rectum with daily bleeding and incontinence. He underwent robotic transanal resection of the rectal polyps in a staged approach to decrease the risk of rectal stricture. The resection was completed successfully with no intraoperative complications. The patient was discharged on the same day of surgery with significant improvement of symptoms on follow-up visits. He underwent the second stage transanal resection four months later without any issues and continued endoscopic surveillance thereafter.

Conclusion/Discussion: Resection of a large amount of juvenile polyps in the rectum using a single-port robotic platform is safe and feasible. The robotic platform offers an alternative for resection of rectal polyps that are not amenable to endoscopic resection with favorable outcomes.
